About the Company Founders

Zero-G Limited (formerly 'Time+Space') was founded by Ed Stratton and Julie Stratton.

Following attainment of the coveted B.Mus (Tonmeister) university degree (Music with Applied Physics & Audio Engineering) at the University of Surrey in 1979, Ed Stratton gained eight years additional experience in music recording techniques and broadcast engineering at the UK's premier independent radio station, London's Capital Radio, where he worked as a music recording engineer in two professional music studios and numerous broadcast studios.

In 1987, he teamed with Vlad Naslas under the artist name Jack'N'Chill, co-producing an electronic instrumental dance hit 'The Jack That House Built' (No.6 in the UK mainstream sales chart, February 1988) which led to him leaving Capital Radio and spending three years as a recording artist/producer signed to Virgin Records and later to Rhythm King Records. A solo album entitled 'Step into Time' under the artist name Man Machine achieved No.3 in the Gallup Dance Album Chart in 1990. He toured the UK extensively (plus several visits to Ireland and France) in 1989/90 with a live set of dance music, using a live MIDI rig, often playing to club and outdoor dance events with attendances in the thousands.

A fanatical collector/creator of samples since the invention of sampling, Ed Stratton amassed a vast private sound collection and in 1990 had the idea of creating the world's first dance music 'sample CDs' which featured thousands of audio samples & loops. Although not intended to be used commercially (unlike all other Zero-G products, these so-called 'Datafile' CDs were never sold with a commercial user license and could only be used 'personally' for inspiration) - they became very popular. In early 1992 Ed Stratton formed the limited company Zero-G Limited. Together with Julie Stratton, Ed then worked fanatically to build a new publishing and distribution business based around Sample CDs. Hence 'Time+Space' was born, and other talented sample producers were soon signed up to provide new collections for Time+Space to distribute on the Zero-G label. The Zero-G sample catalogue grew rapidly. The company then quickly expanded its distribution operations, becoming the exclusive UK distributor for all of the worlds leading brands of sample CD as the young sampling industry developed.

Ed Stratton is also an accomplished instrumentalist having obtained the LTCL Diploma (Licentiate of the Trinity College of Music London) for Piano Performance in 1975. He was formerly an accomplished cellist and played in numerous amateur orchestras.
